Swedish cellist Lydia Hillerudh is currently active as a chamber musician and cello teacher across London. 2019 will see her perform solo and chamber music recitals around the UK, as well as performing the Elgar Cello Concerto with Zoë Kundu and Wyatt Sinfonia in August.
With her clarinet trio, Tritium Trio, she has been a chamber music fellow at the Royal Academy of Music, a winner of the Isaacs/Pirani Trio Prize, Harold Craxton Prize and the Audience Prize at St-Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition. Their CD of English Clarinet Trios will be released by Prima Facie Records in 2019.
Lydia started playing the cello under the guidance of Elisabeth Lysell-Bjermkvist in Stockholm, Sweden. She was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music with professor Mats Lidström, and graduated in 2016 with a 1st class Bachelor’s degree. Lydia graduated with Distinction from her Master of Arts in 2017, also from the Academy, where she studied with renowned cellist Robert Cohen.
Lydia is a sought-after cello teacher across London, where she teaches for London Music Masters, as well as teaching on the Primary Years Programme at Centre for Young Musicians. She has also been involved in the development of the charity Play for Progress’s newly founded music programme for unaccompanied refugee minors. Lydia is also an avid arranger, having had her arrangements for string- and cello ensembles played around UK, as well as across Scandinavia.
